New music from Keith Urban also means a new sound!

Keith Urban's latest album takes an unexpected turn from the country superstar's usual sound. Instead of delivering a collection of brand-new country anthems, Urban is diving headfirst into the smooth, feel-good world of yacht rock.
The album features 10 covers of classic soft rock favorites from the late '70s and early '80s, along with one original track, "We Go Back," featuring legendary singer Michael McDonald. Collaborations with artists like Little Big Town and John Mayer also make appearances throughout the project, giving these timeless songs a fresh new twist.
According to Urban, Flow State wasn't originally planned as an album at all. After restoring his Nashville recording studio, The Sound, he gathered a group of musicians to break in the space by playing songs they loved. What started as a fun studio experiment quickly grew into a full-length project.
Urban says the music was inspired by the uplifting, easygoing spirit of yacht rock—a genre known for its smooth melodies, polished production, and carefree vibes. In a world that often feels stressful and divided, he wanted to create something that felt comforting, nostalgic, and fun.
