Lightning struck a nearby tree, sending it right through the roof
A pretty intense thunder storm barreled through parts of Saratoga County on Tuesday morning. One home in Greenfield Center was destroyed after lightning struck a tree, causing it to crush the mobile home.
NewsChannel 13 was on the scene Tuesday morning. Kevin and Karen Julius were sleeping when a lightning bolt hit a pine tree above their home. Luckily, they were on the opposite side when the tree tore through the center of the house.
I heard the storm coming in, but I didn't really pay attention to it. Then all of a sudden the house started shaking
The Greenfield Fire District came to help and removed as much of the fallen tree as they could, but said the house is likely beyond repair. The Red Cross was helping the Julius family with some necessities and a gofundme has been set up to help.
