The proposed store would be located on an already busy stretch of road
Aldi, the discount supermarket chain, may be looking to expand its footprint in the Capital Region. CBS 6 reported on Thursday that a developer representing the grocer is looking at 829-831 Route 9 (New Loudon Road) in Latham for a 20,000 square foot store.
The site being proposed is currently an abandoned hotel, located next to the La Quinta Inn and Suites. Plans are currently in front of the Town of Colonie planning board.
A sketch of what the potential new store would look like can be found here.
Aldi has about a dozen supermarkets in and around the Capital Region.
