A large plume of smoke can be seen in Latham

Update 12:24pm: Crews are working to remove the charred vehicle, the right two lanes remain closed approaching exit 6.
Update 11:54am: The fire appears to be under control, however lane closures and backups remain.
If you're traveling Northbound on the Northway, watch out for a vehicle on fire approaching exit 6. The car is off to the right shoulder, but according to 511ny.org, there are lane closures in effect as crews try to put out the fire.
