Schenectady’s New M&T Bank Center Opens Its Doors Saturday

The wait is over—Schenectady’s brand-new M&T Bank Center at Mohawk Harbor is ready to welcome its first concert on Saturday, September 6. Country star Lee Brice, with special guest David J, will open the $55 million arena that now serves as both Union College’s hockey home and a new hub for live events. According to CBS6 Albany, the venue can hold about 2,200 fans for hockey and 3,600 for concerts, making it a versatile addition to the Capital Region’s entertainment scene.

Know Before You Go: Security & Bag Policies

Bag Policy

  • Small bags and purses allowed.

  • Clear bags up to 12” x 6” x 12” encouraged.

  • Backpacks, large totes, and duffels not permitted.

  • All bags subject to search.

  • Medically necessary items and diaper bags (with child) permitted but inspected.

Security Screening
All guests go through screening, which may include bag checks, walk-through metal detectors, or handheld wands.

Prohibited Items

  • Weapons of any kind (including pocket knives)

  • Outside food or beverages (unless medically necessary)

  • Illegal drugs or substances

  • Aerosol cans or flammable materials

  • Laser pointers, air horns, or disruptive noisemakers

  • Professional camera gear (unless approved in advance)

  • Any item deemed unsafe by staff
