Get ready to cheer on the New York Phoenix
Add another pro basketball team to the Capital Region's roster. It was announced on Tuesday that Schenectady's Armory Studios would be the home for the New York Phoenix - the newest team in the TBL (The Basketball League).
The team, owned by Rebecca Clifford, says the name represents the momentum seen in recent years in the City of Schenectady:
We named the team the ‘Phoenix’ to symbolize the rebirth of Schenectady and the return of professional sports to our new home town. We’re excited to bring a strong winning basketball legacy to Schenectady County and provide high-quality, family-friendly entertainment.
Games will begin in March, with twelve home games planned for the Armory Studios. The Basketball League (TBL) is also host to Albany's longtime team, the Patroons.
The full game schedule is expected to be released in December, with tickets going on sale November 29th.
