Pizza Vending Machine Coming to Albany

A new way to experience one of your favorites

Albany is about to get a taste of the future: a pizza vending machine. The machine, developed by entrepreneur Steven Weiss under the brand NYC Pizza Vending, will debut inside 80 State Street this fall. According to the Times Union, the pizzas are cooked fresh in about 90 seconds to three minutes, with classics like margherita and pepperoni on the menu.

The pies aren’t giant take-home pizzas, but personal-sized meals priced between $20 and $22. Customers will be able to watch their pizza bake behind a glass window and pay with card or mobile options. Condiments like red pepper flakes and balsamic drizzle will also be offered.

Weiss told the Times Union the goal is to combine convenience with quality — partnering with local caterers and pizzerias to make sure the pizza tastes like it came from a real restaurant. If successful, Albany’s machine won’t be the last. Plans call for 30 to 40 more across the Capital Region within the next few years.
