Communities mark the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks with remembrances and ceremonies.

Friday marks the 25th anniversary of the attacks on New York City and Washington D.C., and communities will come together to remember what happened on September 11th, 2001 this week.

In Saratoga Springs, a ceremony will take place over at High Rock Park.  The Mayor's Office is requesting people to arrive at 8:15am as the ceremony will begin promptly at 8:30am.  The ceremony will take place at the Tempered by Memory sculpture, a memorial that is comprised of five pieces of twisted steel that was recovered from the World Trade Center.

Over in Glens Falls, the anniversary will be marked with a ceremony at the Glens Falls Fire Department, at 134 Ridge Street in Glens Falls.  At 9:03am, opening remarks will be made by the Police and Fire Chiefs, as well as the Mayor.   Then a moment of reflection and prayer capped with a 25 seconds of silence for the 25th anniversary, and then a 5-5-5-5 tolling of the bell, a sign of honor and respect for the firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice.  

The ceremony will close with Amazing Grace, followed by closing remarks by the Fire Department Chaplin, Lt. Aaron Whorf.   For more information contact the Glens Falls Fire Department at 518-844-5872.

In Hudson Falls, a ceremony will take place at 10am over at the American Legion Post 574, on 72 Pearl Street.  

Then in Queensbury, a remembrance will take place at the Warren County Municipal Center on Route 9 near Northway Exit 20.  State Senator Dan Stec, State Assemblyman Matt Simpson and Assemblywoman Carrier Woerner will be on hand as a presentation of a bridge sign will be made in dedication to Stephen Raymond.  Raymond was a DEC Conservation Officer who passed away in 2017 after succumbing to cancer sustained due to exposure at Ground Zero in 2001.  

The ceremony will take place at Noon outside the Center (in case of rain it'll be moved indoors).

Over in Mechanicville, a ceremony and ringing of the bell will take place outside the Mechanicville Fire Station at 5:30pm.

Then in Ballston Spa, a ceremony and remembrance will take place at the 9/11 Memorial on Front Street starting at 7pm, next to the Village Hall.

A day long ceremony will take place at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery over in Stillwater on Saturday, September 12th.  The Ceremony will take place starting at 10am.

And the Greenfield Lions Club is conducting a ceremony at 6:30pm on Saturday, September 12th over at the Middle Grove Town Park.
