A wrecking ball is in place and the backhoes have moved in
Standing in front of a wrecking ball at the Central Warehouse, New York Governor Kathy Hochul and Albany County Executive Dan McCoy announced the demolition of the long abandoned, decrepit building would begin immediately. And it did.
After a few remarks, Hochul and McCoy used a megaphone to tell the workers to start dismantling the structure. A backhoe moved in knocking down old doors and walls on the outside.
Symbolic? Maybe - there is still litigation pending about the demolition contract, but both elected officials say the time has come.
